HAROLD B. DETWILER, 78, FOOD WHOLESALER

Harold B. "Jim" Detwiler, 78, husband of Dorothy G. (Espenship) Detwiler, of West Seventh Avenue, Trappe, Montgomery County, PA, died Wednesday, March 10, in his home after a long illness. Mr. Detwiler was born in Collegeville to the late Norris H. and Sara (Boucher) Detwiler. He was a graduate of Collegeville-Trappe High School. During World War II, he served as a sergeant and gun crewman with the Field Artillery Detachment, 1802nd Special Regiment. Mr. Detwiler was a food wholesaler. He began working part-time at age 15 for the Landes Brothers Company, Upper Providence Township, retiring in 1990. Mr. Detwiler was a member of Trinity Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Collegeville. He was a tractor and farm implement collector, especially of John Deere products. He was a member of the Keystone Grange, No. 2, Trappe; the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association, Geigertown; the Trappe Fire Company, Trappe; and the Two-Cylinder Club. He was a former volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 113, Trappe. In addition to his wife, Mr. Detwiler is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Detwiler, husband of Christine (Warlo), of Colebrookdale, and Jay H. Detwiler, husband of Donna (Jumbelick), of Upper Providence Township; two daughters, Darlene S. Welsh, of Lower Pottsgrove Township, and Patricia A. Mitchell, wife of Stafford, of Trappe; one sister, Ruth DeWalt, wife of the late Carl, of Royersford; and six grandchildren, John Welsh, husband of Sandra (Waltz), and Philip S. Welsh, all of Lower Pottsgrove, Jared Mitchell, Brent Mitchell and Joshua Mitchell, all of Trappe, and Heather Detwiler, of Upper Darby. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Kime; and one brother, Neil Detwiler.
