Ryan Pongras was a member of Troop 113 from 1993 until 1998, including some time as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1996 and recalls that he achieved the rank just before his 18th birthday, after Scoutmaster Bill Gardner challenged him that he had promised he’d earn the rank when he joined the Troop.
Ryan’s favorite memories include the camping and canoeing trips (but not the Valley Forge Encampment when the night temperatures dropped into the 20’s), and playing taps at multiple troop events. Overall, he loved all of the laughs.
Today, he lives in Salford Township with is wife, daughter and two sons. He is entering his 20th year teaching music, with 19 years in the Souderton Area School District. He credits his time in Boy Scouts for helping to direct him toward his love of teaching beginners. He still loves to play music and is the Assistant Director of the Montgomery County Concert Band.
