G. Andrew Meschter

Andrew Meschter was a member of Troop 113 from 1989 until 1993.

He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1993, just before his 18th birthday. He recalls that they had to call an emergency Board of Review for him to make the rank in time. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow, Unami Lodge.

In 1993, he attended Philmont.

His favorite memories include Bill Gardener’s quirky personality (and calling everyone “Guy”) , Klondike Derbies with no snow on the ground, wilderness survival weekend and going to Resica Falls (especially the Pioneering merit badge). He says that Boy Scouts was one of the only all male experiences he had growing up and was important to shaping his character in ways that he would not have had otherwise.

After his time in scouting, he attended Millersville University, graduate school in England and lived in Germany. He joined the national guard as a cavalry scout in 2004, deploying to Iraq and Egypt as a soldier. Today, he works at a non-profit and has published two books.
